Two methods to connect your Samsung Galaxy A9 Pro (2016) Android smartphone to the TV

Using a HDMI Cable

This is the simplest method, since you only need an HDMI cable. It will depend on the type of mobile device, some already bring the micro HDMI port , but in other cases it will be necessary to use an MHL micro USB to HDMI converter , such as the above image, which has cost about 8 euros.

All you have to connect the cable to your Android and the TV, and look for the HDMI source with the TV remote. Once done, you will have the screen of your smartphone or tablet on your TV and you can see games, apps, videos and your favorite content on the big screen.

by WiFi

To connect your smartphone to the TV wirelessly, two things are necessary. First, your TV must have WiFi option, something we find virtually any SmartTV today. On the other hand, your phone must also have multiple function display. If you are sure that accounts with both options, just follow these steps:

  1. Through the source of your TV, find the wireless display option.
  2. Start multi - screen option on your smartphone. Once inside, your phone will start searching for other devices that are connected to the WiFi network through this function. Here you must select your TV.
  3. Once the two devices are recognized, the screen of your smartphone appear on the TV.

There are also some applications where you need not follow these steps because they can connect to the TV automatically. This occurs with numerous video and image applications, such as YouTube or your phone gallery.

In these applications you will find an icon with two screens or a screen and connecting a WiFi signal. Clicking on this button, you'll find all the devices connected to your network. You have to choose your TV and the app in question will appear on the screen.

The most direct option: HDMI cable

The simplest and most direct option is to connect the phone through a cable to one of the HDMI ports on your TV. But how do I do if my smartphone does not have an HDMI jack? Quiet that is normal in the world. Although some tablets do come with this type of serial outputs (in mini or micro format), on mobile not usual.

However, usually it occurs, but as usual the option to purchase some type of external adapter (for example in the case of Apple to move from Lightning to HDMI) mobile in recent years is that they have a compatible port with the standard MHL, or what is the same, with the Mobile High-definition Link.

It is a connection type emerged in 2010 that can transmit quality video 1080p uncompressed (sound to 192 kHz and 7.1) from phones and tablets to screens and video equipment (eg projectors) larger using only 5 pins. The MHL connection recharges mobile connected providing 5 volts and 500 mA while transmitting video and audio is done, and use the TV remote control to control phone functions.

As we see, it is the most direct option. Just plug the cable into the mobile and on TV (in a port compatible with MHL) and as much activate the external display in the terminal also selecting the video input corresponding to your TV if not automatically activated. It is important to ensure that the mobile supports and especially to choose a quality cable to avoid further interference problems and cuts in the image or sound.

Is the main drawback of this form of connection? For that by using a cable we are limited in length and probably have to walk getting up off the couch to do anything with the phone.

Samsung dropped MHL support for Galaxy devices that are announced in 2015 or later. Galaxy A9 and A9 PRO is made in 2016 and don't have MHL support. There are alternatives though.

One of the best alternative is Miracast. Miracast is built in on many TV and TV Boxes so its very easy to find.

Tutorials are avaliable on Google. Just search Miracast screen mirroring.
