 WiFi or DLNA

 WiFi or DLNA

If you are one of those who has a Smart TV with WiFi connection you do not need cables or devices to duplicate the smartphone screen on TV.

Generally, televisions with WiFi, have the option to share the screen of the mobile in it. By default this option is usually disabled, so we will go to the TV menu and search and activate this function. Depending on which TV it is, the name will be different, but it will be something like the one mentioned, or even Miracast, WiFi Direct or DLNA.

Once activated the option, we can see the content of the screen of any Android connected to the same WiFi network as the TV, although it is necessary to make the settings on the smartphone before.

In order to configure the screen duplication, we will need to have the Android version 4.0 or higher installed and to activate it we will follow these steps:

  1. In the Settings menu, select the "Display" option.
  2. We should see the option "Duplicate screen"
  3. Once pressed, your smartphone will search for TVs connected to the same WiFi network.
  4. Select the desired TV and wait for the connection to be established.

In some mobile phones may have "Duplicate screen" in a different menu, in the case of Sony Xperia, is in the section "Connectivity", although the connection method is the same.

This method is very easy and comfortable and also you do not need to acquire third elements or any type of application, which supposes a great advantage.

Miracast:

DLNA is great for playing videos on the TV and listening to music from your mobile on a stereo or a sound bar. However, if we want to visualize the whole desktop of the phone on the big screen, as we see it on our mobile, then the most recommended option passes the Miracast standard.

Miracast is a protocol that allows to send via a WiFi Direct link the screen of the mobile device in real time to a TV or compatible monitor. It came with Android 4.2 and for it to work we need the mobile or tablet to offer this possibility and the TV has WiFi and is compatible.

It allows wirelessly transmitting quality audio and video content up to FullHD and 5.1 audio to a compatible TV or projector that will serve as the cloned screen of our mobile device. Although the generic name of the technology is Miracast, companies usually camouflage under other names, such as Samsung and its AllShare Cast.
