Samsung DeX TV Connectivity
Among the most popular Android phones or tablets available, there are Samsung's flagship phones. These have connectivity with televisions and monitors. For pure screen duplication, you need a USB-C to HDMI cable.
To connect a Samsung Galaxy S8 / S8 + / Note 8 / S9 / S9 + / Note 9 to your TV, simply connect a USB-C to HDMI adapter. Connect the USB-C male connector to the USB-C charging port on Samsung Galaxy phone. Then, run the HDMI cable on your TV.
However, Samsung Galaxy S8, S9 and Note 8/9 phones also include DeX. Bridging the gap between mobile and desktop, DeX offers a desktop experience executed from your phone.
Since it is a patented technology, the method to connect your Samsung phone with DeX to a TV differs from the standard connections.
For the entire Galaxy S8 and Note 8 line, as well as for S9 and S9 +, you need a dock to use DeX.
Similarly, the Samsung Galaxy Tab S4 can use its DeX desktop mode with just one USB-C to HDMI cable.
Connect a Samsung phone with DeX to your TV
For owners of Samsung phones that do not have a Note 9 or Galaxy Tab S4, you need some items to connect your Android phone to a TV:
1. Compatible Samsung device
2. DeX dock
2. HDMI cable
4. TV / monitor or projector with an HDMI input
Your options for DeX docking stations and cables vary. There is the original DeX station, which is a round device that has an HDMI output, an Ethernet port, two USB 2.0 ports and USB-C charging.
The Samsung DeX Pad includes a fast charge and a form factor where the phones can stay flat. This means that you can use the touch screen of your phone as a touch panel. Third-party manufacturers, such as Rocketek, also offer DeX springs. Then, you will find simple cables for DeX that avoid the voluminous footprint of the dock.
Regardless of the option you use, connecting a Samsung phone to a TV for use with DeX works the same way. First, connect your phone or tablet to a base or cable via USB-C. Run an HDMI cable from the base to your screen.
