Method 1
Method 2

You must not disconnect a USB port without removing it where it is connected. Doing so is one of the main reasons that are damaged, whether flash drives or hard drives. The consequences are not able to enter more into the USB, Windows does not recognize or even lose the files you store on it.

Method 1

  1. Close all files or programs you may have open USB. Also the windows of Windows Explorer to show folders on the USB.
  1. Then follow the steps that are relevant to your version of Windows:

    • In Windows 7 and Vista
Open the menu Start and right click on Computer .
    • In Windows XP
Enter Home and right click on My Computer .
    • In Windows 8, 8.1 or Windows 10
Click the right mouse button on the menu Start and select File Explorer . NOTE: Clickhere if you do not know how to view the Home Windows 8.

  1. Hard drives, CD / DVD, USB drives: a window that displays all units connected to the PC opens. Look for the USB you want to disconnect and click on it to select it.
  2. With USB already selected, click on it right now with the option and click Eject .
  3. IMPORTANT: Wait out a warning, usually in the notification area of the Windows desktop(where the clock is). Or sometimes in a separate window. You must tell you it is safe to remove the hardware or device. Disconnect only when you leave that warning. If he says that the USB is in use, wait thirty seconds and repeat the same steps. Are you returning to get away that is in use after testing again? Turn off the PC and when it is turned off completely, disconnect the USB.

    Method 2

It is just as valid as before. Use this if you prefer or you find it faster and comfortable.

    1. Close any open files or programs USB.
    2. Look for the USB icon in the notification area of the desktop (where the clock, as I said before). It has the shape of a USB connector and a "V" or green arrow next (as in these images ). The USB icon is hidden sometimes, especially in Windows 7, Vista and Windows 8. If you do not see it, click the arrow to the left of the notification area pointing up. Other icons, including USB are displayed.

    1. When you have already located the icon, click on it with the RIGHT mouse button and select in the menu that appears that apply according to your Windows ...

      • In Windows 7, 8, 8.1 or Windows 10
Select Eject [USB name] . That may be a generic name like "USB Flash Drive", the model and brand of USB, etc. If several connected, be sure to eject the right.
      • In Windows XP and Vista

-After clicking on the icon USB Right click Safely remove (or Remove hardware safely ).He opens a window with a list of devices. The USB can be called on it in various ways, as "USB mass storage device" or another name. Identifies you want to disconnect and click on it. Then press down the button Stop . 'Sometimes another window appears with more information on the device you have just chosen, as its type or drive letter. Check that it is correct and then click OK .

    2. IMPORTANT: Always wait to get the message that it is safe to remove the hardware before disconnecting. Then you can close the window safely remove the hardware.
